Ngai Tahu Maori Law Centre

The Ngai Tahu Maori Law Centre is a Community Law Centre based in Dunedin, and funded primarily by the Ministry of Justice. The Ngai Tahu Maori Law Centre was established in 1993 by the three local Ngai Tahu Runaka; Te Runanga o Otakou, Kati Huirapa Runaka ki Puketeraki and Te Runanga o Moeraki.

The services of the Ngai Tahu Maori Law Centre are open to all Ngai Tahu living anywhere in the world and to all Maori living within the Ngai Tahu rohe - this includes Mataawaka.

The Ngai Tahu Maori Law Centre has an ever growing number of individual clients of all iwi affiliations. We also have a number of roopu Maori as clients - we assist these organisations in various ways, for example with preparation and understanding of constitutions/deeds.

Outreach clinics provide opportunities for clients and their whanau to meet with one of our lawyers kanohi ki te kanohi to discuss your issues and how we might be able to assist.

We provide a free outreach clinic to a number of areas including:

  • Murihuku/Southland
  • Te Tai Poutini/West Coast
  • Canterbury
  • Central Otago
